The Beach Patrol Stories are inspired by the incredible real-life dedication of the RNLI Lifeguards from the Perranporth area of Cornwall — people I’ve had the privilege to meet through my photography. Watching them in action has been both inspiring and rewarding: the early mornings setting up patrols, the constant vigilance as they scan the waves, and the calm professionalism they show even in the most challenging conditions.

Whether it’s rescuing swimmers caught in rip currents, giving first aid on the sand, or simply offering a reassuring smile to a nervous surfer, their quiet heroism often goes unnoticed by those they protect.

I’ve tried to capture some of that spirit through the Beach Patrol Stories. Each story is a small celebration of the lifeguards’ bravery and dedication — hopefully a creative tribute to the people who risk their safety so the rest of us can enjoy the sea.
